In the remote Amazon communities of Ayacucho, San Juan de Yanayacu, and Junín, life is incredibly challenging for the elderly. Without the ability to farm or fish, many seniors struggle to meet their most basic needs. 

Through the Sponsor a Senior Program, the Nevada Building Hope Foundation (NBHF) brings hope, care, and dignity to these elders. Three times a year, seniors receive essential staples—rice, cooking oil, spaghetti, sugar, salt, and soap—providing not just nourishment but also comfort and security. During high-water seasons, the seniors have difficulty finding food. Their gardens often wash away.

In the summer of 2025, through a generous donation by Joanne Tully, of the USA, Barbara Land and Dustin Pinedo Gonzales delivered by small boat to each senior living in the area, all the food and supplies they needed until the water subsided.

More than food and supplies, this program delivers something priceless: a reminder that someone, far away or nearby, cares about them. For many seniors, these gifts bring a renewed sense of connection and belonging, transforming isolation into hope. Every donation helps ensure that these seniors can live their later years with dignity, respect, and love. For an annual donation of $150, you can provide all the food a senior will need for a year.
