In 2016, in collaboration with the Ministerio de Educación of Peru, the principals and teachers of Ayacucho Tipishica–Río Amazonas, San Juan de Yanayacu, and Junín Villages joined with the Nevada Building Hope Foundation (NBHF) to create a children’s education program.

This sponsor-based initiative ensures that every child has everything needed for a full year of schooling: slacks and shirts for the boys, blouses and skirts for the girls, clothing for physical education, undergarments, shoes, and backpacks filled with school supplies. In addition, NBHF provides the teachers of all three communities with the materials they need for the entire school year—helping to create an environment where both students and educators can thrive.

Over the years, this program has fostered more than education; it has built friendships and lifelong bonds. Through shared letters, videos, and thoughtful gifts, children and their sponsors come to know and love one another across great distances. Many of our sponsors have even traveled to the Amazon to meet their sponsored child in person—an encounter that is always deeply moving for both.
